Vimeo pricing comparison: Old vs new plans 2026

This article compares the legacy plans (Starter, Standard, Advanced) with the new plans (Creator, Core, Professional) to help you understand the changes and their impact. We’ll begin focusing on pricing and the new restrictions before comparing each plan before and after.

Note that I only have the new prices in my local Danish Krone currency:

Legacy planAnnual priceNew planAnnual pricePrice change
StarterDKK 85/monthCreatorDKK 68/month↓ -20%
StandardDKK 175/monthCoreDKK 235/month↑ +34%
AdvancedDKK 485/monthProfessionalDKK 615/month↑ +27%

The price changes might seem acceptable at first, but Vimeo also introduces a new term called “Mangaged storage” which completely changes the plans and their usability. Let’s dive in.

Managed storage

Vimeo now want’s to incentivize using Vimeo only for public videos, so if all your videos are public you actually get a whopping 7TB of storage for all plans. However, if your videos aren’t public then new restrictions apply. Vimeo describes managed storage as such:

“Storage for private, unlisted or embeddable videos. Public videos non-embeddable do not contribute to managed storage.”

So if you have private, unlisted or embeddable videos then the new limits will probably hit quite hard:

Legacy PlanStorageNew PlanManaged storageChange
Starter2TBCreator50GB↓ -98%
Standard4TBCore300GB↓ -93%
Advanced7TBProfessional7TBUnchanged

This means that if you’re using Vimeo mainly for private, unlisted or embeddable videos, you are either forced to upgrade to Professional or find an alternative, which luckily exists in form of Bunny Stream. More on that later.

Bandwidth limit

Vimeo will also decrease the “Bandwidth limit” which forces you to upgrade your Starter plan if your videos are popular:

Legacy PlanBandwidth limitNew PlanBandwidth limitChange
Starter2TB monthlyCreator1TB monthly50%
Standard2TB monthlyCore2TB monthlyUnchanged
Advanced2TB monthlyProfessional2TB monthlyUnchanged

Vimeo explains:

“Bandwidth is the data used in order to deliver your videos to viewers. We’ve set the limit so that 99% of our users will never reach it. You can always track your bandwidth usage within your account. If you do end up reaching that monthly limit, you can upgrade to higher tiers or discuss a more suitable plan with our sales team. If you already know that your bandwidth usage is likely to be unusually high please get in touch to discuss options. Note: This limit applies to all jointly controlled accounts, therefore opening multiple accounts does not increase your bandwidth limit.”

Seats limit

If you’re working as a team there are unfortunately also restrictions coming to the Standard plan (Core) which had 5 users before but soon just 1 (up to 3). I’m not sure what “Up to 3” means, but my guess is they are paid extra seats.

New: Core Plan

  • Price: DKK 235/month (billed annually)

The “Virtual events and webinars” feature likely replaces the legacy “Hosted livestreamed events” functionality, though the specific sub-features (Events Q&A, polls, chat, stream to multiple destinations, DVR streaming, scheduled simulive, live event-level analytics) are not explicitly confirmed in the Professional plan description.

Alternatives to Vimeo

Alternative for embedding videos

Bunny Stream

Slovenia

If you’re mostly using Vimeo for embedding videos, you’re in luck, there’s an EU based alternative called Bunny Stream headquartered in Slovenia with professional video cloud storage and video player performance.

Alternative for virtual events and webinars

Livestorm

France

A viable EU based alternative to Vimeo’s virtual events is Livestorm, a French webinar and video conferencing platform headquartered in Paris, positioning itself as Europe’s trusted alternative for secure online events.

Final Thoughts

Vimeo’s 2026 pricing restructuring represents a significant shift in their business model:

  1. Entry-level users benefit from lower prices and AI features
  2. Mid-tier and advanced users face substantial price increases (34-180%)
  3. Businesses are being pushed towards expensive Enterprise solutions
  4. Private video storage is now heavily restricted in lower tiers
  5. Some legacy features have been removed or moved to higher tiers

I am personally leaving US tech anyways, so this is my moment to say goodbye to Vimeo. But what is your plan? Please let me know in the comments below.
